Because Counting in Green is Book of the Month at CEHN (Children’s Environmental Health Network), Rebecca Barry interviewed Hollis for their Substack.
A fragment:
“Dividing her time between Amsterdam and New York with her husband, Hollis writes in multiple genres, moderates discussions on literature, human rights, and education, and continues to inspire readers and communities around the world with work that invites empathy, action, and deeper understanding.
I interviewed Hollis in January 2026. Iโll let her words speak for themselves.
Hollis, tell me a little about yourself! What brings you joy – what brings you frustration?! Where are you currently based?
So many things bring me joy! Unhurried time and conversations with family and close friends (especially important since weโre scattered around the planet); travel and discovering new cultures; breakthroughs in my writing and thinking; and finding ways large and small to help other people โ and the planet. As a writer, specifically, it gives me joy when my readers of any age are visibly moved by something Iโve written; when they feel seen and understood; and when they share their ideas with me.”
At the end of the interview, you can also read Hollis’ poem “Another Chance”, specially written for Children’s Environmental Health Network (CEHN). You’ll find a video version here.
